This guide serves as an IC and OOC guideline for those who conduct Research. Expect IC or OOC repercussions for any actions that violate this guideline. It is not meant to restrict research but rather clarify what you can and cannot do.

SCP Research

SCP Research is to be done by and conducted by authorized personnel only. The following is a list of Research levels that can conduct specific testing.

  • Research Director is the primary authorizer for most tests done on-site. They can authorize their own testing (except specifically those listed in restricted testing) on all SCPs. In absence of a Research Director, the Site Director and sometimes the Senior Researcher may authorize testing.
  • Senior Researchers are the Foundations most experienced research personnel. They can test on all SCPs with their own permission, save for Keter which requires permission from the Research Director or Site Director if absent.
  • Researchers are the standard rank among the Science Department, and may test on all Safe class SCPs and Euclid/Keter with Research Director authorization, to Senior Researcher if an RD is absent. Site Director remains the final authorities if both are not in-game.
  • Research Associates are not permitted to test without accompanying a higher ranking Researcher, and should rather be learning and assisting with study.

Other roles are not allowed to research SCPs under normal circumstance. Atypical circumstance involves Admin/O5 permission, not the Site Director.

Restricted Testing

Restricted Testing refers to SCPs who are currently under special permission to be tested on from the O5 Council. This may be updated frequently so be sure to check this page for updates.

  • SCP-106
  • SCP-096
  • SCP-1102-RU

D-Class

D-Class are to be solely used for direct contact testing. You are not allowed to use yourself as a subject for exposure to a particular SCP. D-Class not only refers to Class-D as the role, but also in emergency circumstance Employees who hold the D-Class level cards. Normal Foundation Personnel who are Class-D are not to be used unless in emergencies lacking Class-D Prisoners

  • Class-D are resources not to be expended just for the sake of seeing them dying. Provide them some sort of interactions and testing.
  • Class-D are amnesthiized at the conclusion of all testing, except when testing requires their ongoing memory to test lingering SCP effects. It is recommended to move them to the D-Class luxury area, locked off from regular D-Class to prevent exposure of SCP knowledge.
  • Class-D are the only acceptable candidates for emergency situations (Femur Breaker, for example) that require a sacrifice to recontain an SCP, unless there is no Class-D.
  • Class-D may be terminated with some escalation of warning if they refuse to carry out a test by the leading scientist in charge of the test

Continued Containment Measures

CCM refers to Security in particular and their duties to keep anomalies contained. These do not require a researcher present and are done autonomously to ensure that SCPs do not breach. This includes the following.

  • SCP-247 Feeding (Interacting and playing with SCP-247 requires a researcher)
  • SCP-173 Cleaning (3x D-Class minimum)
  • SCP-999 Playing (This is moreso for the sake of SCP-999 getting some sort of interaction)
